The Leisure Society
The Leisure Society
We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Ivor Novello nominees The Leisure Society back home to Burton-on-Trent, joined by Riding the Low for a truly unforgettable double headline show at Burton Town Hall.
This will be The Leisure Society’s only full band show of 2025, and an emotional return to the town where it all began.
Frontman Nick Hemming says:
“It’s been a long time coming, so it’s going to feel quite momentous, playing in front of friends and family. My song ‘We Were Wasted’ is about a night out in Burton, written ‘from the flat above the square’ – so to sing that line in town again will be very emotional.”
Returning to Burton from a summer of festival appearances including 2000Trees, Kendal Calling and Download, Riding the Low, fronted by Paddy Considine, will deliver a unique stripped-back acoustic performance. Raw, spellbinding, and full of heart, it’s a glimpse of the band in a different light.
Nick and Paddy haven’t shared a bill since their teenage indie band She Talks to Angels with Shane Meadows. As Nick puts it: “Paddy and I found music at the same time. He was always a big supporter of mine, he even used ‘We Were Wasted’ in the soundtrack to his film Tyrannosaur. So yeah, playing together in the town that brewed us… it’s going to be incredibly special.”
The Leisure Society blend lush arrangements with lyrical depth, drawing comparisons to artists like Elbow, Fleet Foxes, and The Divine Comedy. Riding the Low bring a raw intensity and melodic power that fans of Guided By Voices, REM, and early Manic Street Preachers will love.
